A Message from the Principal

Happy March!

March is here and Spring Break is on its way! This year feels a little funny since we have not really had a winter. As the weather starts to warm up, little bodies crave outside activities and fresh air. Below is a list of some fun family activities.

March is also the month for our second parent teacher conferences. I cannot stress enough the importance of coming in to meet with your child's teacher. Now only does it allow you to see how your student is perfoming academically and socially, it shows your child that education is a priority. Plan to bring your child with you so they can show off what they have been doing at school. Please look for information from the teacher to schedule your conference.

Here is a list of some great things to do with your children on spring break!

Nature Scavenger Hunt                                                    Family bike ride or picnic

DIY craft and art day                                                        Baking/ Kids restaurant night

Visit a Zoo or Aquarium                                                    Backyard campout or movie night

Build a Snow Fort (it could happen)

CLOTHES FOR THE NURSE!

Hi TPS Families,

If you have extra pants, shirts or sweatshirts that need a good home, we are more than happy to take them for the health office. We frequently have students who have soiled their clothing and need a change of clothes.

ATTENDANCE MATTERS!

Regular school attendance is essential for a child’s academic success, social development, and sense of responsibility. When students attend school consistently, they build strong learning habits, keep up with lessons, and develop meaningful relationships with teachers and classmates. However, it is equally important for parents to keep their child home when they are sick. Sending an ill child to school can slow their recovery and increase the risk of spreading illness to others. By balancing consistent attendance with responsible health decisions, families help ensure that children stay on track academically while also protecting their own well-being and the health of the school community.

 Activites

Kids Heart Challenge!

For those who may be unfamiliar, this event encourages students to raise funds in support of the American Heart Association. Thomson has raised $7,904.74 so far!

Students will have the opportunity to earn incentives along the way, and any student who raises $50 or more will earn a chance to throw a pie at a teacher —a student favorite!

Thanks to our amazing community, we raised an incredible $13,000 last year, and we can’t wait to see what we can accomplish together this year!

Parent Teacher Conferences

Attending parent–teacher conferences is extremely important because it creates a strong partnership between home and school that directly benefits a child’s success. These meetings give parents the opportunity to understand their child’s academic progress, strengths, and areas that may need improvement. Our teachers work hard to prepare for these conferences. We look forward to seeing you!

Lost and Found

As the weather gets cooler, please make sure to send your child with clothing that is appropriate for the weather.

Please make sure to label coats, hats, and gloves so we can return them to the correct owners when they are forgotten around the school.

We know items are expensive to replace and parents are welcome to come in any time and look for lost items in our lost and found.
